Today we went out shopping for some necessities like diapers and a bite to eat. Maneekarn, who we found is called by her nick name (I'm going to spell it incorrectly so you know what it sounds like) Nam-oon. It means "warm water".
Today was a shift from yesterday. When Naan-oom arrived, we took her for a walk in the garden before I tried to hold her. At first she cried out, but no tears. She is curious and an observer. It was easy to redirect her with the surrounding garden. She watches everything and was quick to smile today. Yesterday she spit out and wore home most of what we offered at lunch. Today she ate pretty well and was lively. We had no upset from her while we were out. When others in the store, even the social workers, tried to talk with her she turned her head from them and snuggled me ( We are lucky, she is a cuddler. Yes, I'm in heaven.) I've been diligent and hold her unless we are actively playing, even while she is sleeping. It is a really good thing. Jeff has not held her yet. I'm hoping we can try tomorrow afternoon when she is placed with us. I'm letting Jeff make that decision. They play well together and she has been warm towards him, so I think it will go well. She had 2 older boys and a foster father, so she is comfortable around men. She doesn't even seem to mind his beard.
Tomorrow we expect some regression since she will be spending her first night with us. She loves bath time, so we hope to distract her with some splish and splash. Who knows, it may totally backfire. I'm glad we have some time in country before we come home. The other family will be here that long too, so I hope we spend some time together. It would be great for the girls to play.
OK, we're off to the gym! Luv, G
What a cutie!! Thanks for posting pictures and sharing the love of your new family!!! I cant wait until we get to meet her!!
ReplyDeleteTotally adorable! It looks like she's warming up to you fast.
ReplyDeleteJeff, Alex was the same way when we were there he cried when handed towards me for a day or so, once I had him he would stop and explore then often fell asleep. Must have been my conversation.
ReplyDeleteSusie says, "It's so fun to see more photos of Maneekarn - her personality is really coming to light through all the photos and descriptions. I'm so glad she's a snuggler! :)"
We are excited for you. Keep the pictures and posts coming.
